IEC Fusion Reactor Mark 3 Cooling System, Version 2

Overview:

Upgrades to the previous grid cooling system

New grid cooling pumps (8/22/2013):

New water cooling loop and fluorinert cooling loop pumps (leftmost 2) replace the old cooling pumps.

New grid cooling pumps (8/22/2013):

New grid cooling pumps (8/22/2013):

New water cooling pumps are higher performance achieving nearly silent operation while greatly reducing space requirements.

The new fluorinert pump uses a high performance brush less electronic drive, coupling magnetically to the internal pump drive thereby eliminating the need for a motor driven magnet yoke and eliminating decoupling problems. The higher capacity allows the pump to operate at a lower rotation speed reducing coolant temperature.

The new water pump also uses a brush less drive design of a spherical impeller mounted on a graphite ceramic point contact bearing allowing higher performance and silent operation.

New grid cooling pumps (8/22/2013):

Cooling Fan (3/14/2011):

New cooling fan, Nidec VA450DC runs on 12Vdc instead of 120Vac and is rated at 220CFM. PWM control allows variable speed operation.

Radiator modifications (8/22/2013):

New right angle swivel coolant connections reduce space, and improve coolant line routing.
