Radiation Shielded Camera Version 4 |
Overview: A GoPro Hero 3+ silver, GoPro Hero4 Session, Gear360, and Casio Exilim EX-ZR200, were shielded with lead and sent through an industrial irradiator while viewing plastic and mineral samples. Radcam version 4 is an improved version of earlier Radcam versions including two GoPro cameras, a 1000fps high speed camera, a 360 degree panoramic camera, and a high range ion chamber connected to a high speed data logger. Data and videos taken are used to corollate the detected x-ray speckle on the video with actual x-ray radiation levels in the irradiator. The irradiation facility is the Mercury Plastics NeoBeam facility which is used for cross linking plastics. The accelerator can produce a 5MeV, 20mA electron beam which is scanned over a moving cart.
